Getting to South Uist
Ferries to Lochboisdale and Eriskay, flights into Benbecula (BEB), and check-in times for our cottages.
Check-in at our South Uist holiday cottages is from 4pm, timed for ferry arrivals. Check-out is 10am.
By ferry
- Lochboisdale (South Uist) — CalMac services from Mallaig and Oban (seasonal routes vary; always check CalMac before you travel)
- Eriskay — linked to South Uist by causeway, with a ferry from Barra
Build a buffer into your journey. Hebridean weather can delay sailings; arriving mid-afternoon still leaves time for a supermarket stop before check-in.
By air
Benbecula Airport (BEB) has scheduled Loganair flights to Glasgow. From the airport it is a short drive south to West Kilbride (Beachview and Tighnabruaich) and Kilpheder (Carraview).
Once you are here
A car is strongly recommended on South Uist. The Co-op in Daliburgh covers groceries and electricity key top-ups. Carraview guests are within walking distance of shops, restaurants, a bank and a post office in Kilpheder.
